Monte is a wonderful boy who tries hard in all he does. Even as a veteran he still takes command of the show ring, and out in the field he will hunt all day. He quickly completed his CKC Championship and is a UKC Grand Champion, making the Top Ten breed standings in the UKC for several years and even becoming a Top Ten Finalist at the 2012 UKC Premier! Monte has titles in Conformation, Field, Nosework (Scent detection), Sprinter, and Weight Pull, which he loves. Monte completed his Weight Pull Championship at the UKC Premier 2019, his best pull was over 20x his body weight, 1093lbs, and he was handled by Cole in this sport. We were very excited to receive confirmation from the UKC that Monte is the very first, and currently the only Vizsla to complete the Weight Pull Champion title!
Monte recently competed at the National and Regional Specialties in June 2019 and was awarded Best Veteran Male at both. He also went in the ring with his 2 puppies and was handed the Stud Dog rosette at the Regional Specialty.
Monte travelled to Long Sault for the Ottawa Valley Pointing Breed Club specialty at the end of August 2019. There he was awarded Best Hunting dog in breed, and went on to win Best Hunting Dog in specialty, over some lovely young dogs. Even after a long day in the August heat, he can still get it done at the age of 11!
Monte recently produced a lovely litter of 7 puppies with our young girl Elara, several of these puppies made it to the show ring last summer.
Monte tried out the Sprinter test in July 2020 along with Halo and Siren. He qualified in all 3 runs of the day with his top speed reaching 34 km/h, not to shabby for a dog who just turned 12. He is only a few points shy of earning his Novice Sprinter title. Monte finished his Novice Sprinter title at an October test, matching his July speed at 34 km/h. He has started earning points towards the next title, as long as he wants to run we will let him run.
Monte completed the next level of Sprinter, simply titled "sprinter" at the last test of the year. He is super excited to do this sport and hopefully will be able to continue to run in the spring. Monte was able to run in a sprinter test in late June 2021, it would be his final run. In August Monte completed his last left hand circle at the St. Catharines KC show where he was entered in the Veterans competition. He proudly ran that ring to a round of applause and showed that a 13 year old dog can still hold his own against those half his age.
** Monte truly enjoyed life to the fullest, and passed peacefully at home on October 19th 2021 at the age of 13 years, 3 months. He touched many lives, did a great many things, and will be missed by all who knew him. **
Monte was awarded his final title in March 2022, Versatility Novice, for having titles in at least 3 CKC sports. He was just a few runs from earning his Advanced Sprinter title and if he had that would have qualified for the Versatility Advanced title as well.
