Ourdream Vizslas is a family run breeding program operated by the Harvey's; Kevin, Mary-Ellen, Audrey, Cole and Emmett. We are located about 10 minutes from the shores of Lake Erie in Southern Ontario, just over an hours drive from Buffalo and Toronto. Being competitive people (we met showing calves in 4-H), and having many years experience in breeding and caring for animals (we were both raised on dairy farms and graduated from Ridgetown College with a diploma in Agriculture), purebred dogs was a natural switch after moving from the Dairy industry. Our dogs are a big part of our family, we center our vacations around them, and if we can not take them with us, we change plans. Most of our time way from home is spent at large dog shows, but we also take all the dogs camping with us several times a year. Our latest trip took us to the East Coast, where the kids and the dogs got to dip their feet in the Atlantic Ocean.
Our journey into the world of purebred dogs began with the purchase of our first Vizsla in 2002. "Brin" tought us many things and opened our eyes to many new experiences. She helped us test our feet in conformation showing, tracking, field training and therapy work. Although she only titled in tracking and achieved her CGN (Canine Good Neighbour) she tried her best at everything. We also owned and bred German Shorthaired Pointers for several years, earning titles with them in show and field as well, but decided to focus all our attention on Vizslas.
We whelped our first litter in 2006, producing our beloved "Xena". Xena went on to earn our first CKC Championship, first Best Puppy in Group, first Best Puppy in Specialty, first group placements in CKC shows and made it into the Top 5 for the breed in Canada. She was also our first UKC Champion and earned her FDj and CGN. Xena produced several wonderful litters and is now retired and living with a new family. Several of her puppies have earned titles in conformation, field, trick dog, barn hunt, weight pull, nosework and CGN. With heavy hearts we all had to say goodbye to her just before Christmas 2019, Xena would have been 13 in January 2020.
Sadly Brin passed away in September 2014, but her legacy lives on in her many puppies and grand-puppies. We continue to breed only selectively and try to breed our best dogs to the best dogs we can find, aiming to preserve and enhance this wonderful breed. Once you purchase a puppy from us, you become part of our extended family and we love to get updates on our dogs from time to time. We love sharing these great dogs with people and we look forward to providing you with your dream puppy in the future.
In June of 2020 Ourdream was granted Permanent Registration status through the Canadian Kennel Club. This classification is available to breeders who have maintained membership with the CKC for at least 10 consecutive years and have earned titles on numerous dogs they have bred. No matter what happens to us down the road, no one will be able to breed dogs under the Ourdream prefix without our permission.
