Elara came to us from a breeder in Rhode Island. She combines some wonderful bloodlines for both show and field work. Both her sire and dam are Canadian specialty winners and her dam is a 21x American specialty winner (breed record). She comes from a long line of dual titled dogs. Already she shows great promise in being not only an outstanding show dog, but a wonderful working dog as well, showing us great potential in the field and an early talent for Rally Obedience. She has a great, friendly attitude with plenty of spunk to make life fun! Elara began winning in the ring when she was just 3 months old and easily finished her UKC and CKC Championships.  In 2019 she earned her UKC Grand Championship, as well as her CKC Grand Championship, and more recently earned her AKC championship, she is now our first TRIPLE champion!  Elara can also be found in the Jr Handling ring where she shows her incredible patience. She has completed her UKC Rally Obedience level 1 title with Audrey at the lead, and earned her Field Dog Jr title in 3 straight runs with scores of 97,97 and 94. Audrey and Elara will continue to compete in Rally Obedience, and just started taking Agility classes together, last summer the pair earned 2 of their 3 needed passes for the CKC Rally Novice title.  Elara was back in the show this spring after a short break, and she has earned 2 group placements with her handler Sarah, this put her in the #1 position for the breed in Canada which she was able to maintain for 2020. Audrey and Elara finished their Rally Novice title in October 2020, we hope to compete in the more advanced levels next year. Elara has also recently started training in Nosework and Tracking.

Audrey and Elara were invited to compete in the Jr Rally Finals at the 2019 UKC Premier. There they earned a fantastic score of 95 and finished 5th in an entry of 31 Jr Handlers. The weekend before, Elara was awarded Select Bitch at the 2019 National Specialty in Caledonia, she was also awarded Select Bitch at the Ontario All Pointing Breed Field Dog Club Specialty, and a nice big Best of Opposite Sex at the all breed show the same day as the National.

Elara started the sport of Sprinter in the summer of 2020 while we were all waiting for things to start up again, she was able to complete her Novice Sprinter at the first trial, then after taking time off to have a litter of puppies, she finished her Sprinter title at a trial this spring.

Elara participated in a UKC rally trial in December, where she earned 4 qualifying scores, several class placements and a High in Trial. She now has her URO2 title, (the UKC equivalent to the CKC RA).

In March Elara was awarded the first level Versatility title (Versatility Novice) that has been recently introduced by the CKC. This recognizes dogs that title in at least 3 sports at the entry level.

After taking some time off to raise puppies, Elara hit the performance rings hard in August. At the St. Catharines KC show August 12th to 14th,  she competed in Rally Obedience and earned her Rally Intermediate title (RI) with 3 runs scoring 98, 80, 97. The following weekend we ran sprinter again where Elara completed her Advanced Sprinter (AS) title. Although not as fast as she has been in the past, Elara still clocked in around 39 km/h. Elara also completed her Novice Trick Dog title at the Oakville Kennel Club show and earned another 194 points towards her Sprinter Excellent title on September 18th. On the weekend of October 1st and 2nd Elara completed her Rally Advanced title and earned an extra leg just to be safe. Her scores were 77, 85, 97,98.

In the fall of 2022 we decide to take Elara back out to a few shows and work on earning her Grand Champion Bronze title, which is earned when a dog receives 50 more points after completing the Grand Champion title. Elara had earned quite a few of these points before 2020 so it was a goal that we believed to be reachable. During the fall and winter Elara attended a few shows, picking up points at almost all of them and at the Woodstock and District Kennel Association show February 25th/26th she earned the final points needed. Elara was awarded Best of Breed on Saturday, and Select bitch (with her granddaughter taking Best of Breed) on Sunday, picking up 5 points in total. Elara is now our first Grand Champion Bronze title holder. Elara earned her Sprinter Excellent title in May 2023, thus ending her sprinter career.

Just when she thought she was finished with all this nonsense, I decided to start showing Elara in the Altered classes at UKC shows. We attended a show in Buffalo NY the weekend of November 10th to 12th and she won 3 of the 5 Reserve Best Altered in Show. Elara also competed in Rally Obedience over the weekend and worked really hard.  On a new surface that was challenging to many experienced and inexperienced dogs, she pulled off 3 nice courses and earned her URO3 title with scores of 91, 90 and 98. She managed to earn 2 total dog awards with these wins, meaning she qualified in performance and earned a win in conformation in the same show. At the last UKC show of the year Elara was awarded all 4 Altered Best in Show awards.

*Elara has been officially retired from the whelping box*
